{"id":"UBUNTU-CVE-2026-104266","details":"tinytag is a Python library for reading audio file metadata. From 2.0.0 until 2.3.0, an M4A file containing a sub-atom with a size of zero inside a ---- atom can cause the metadata parser to stop advancing through the input. The custom-field atom traversal repeatedly processes the malformed location, causing an infinite loop and denying service to a program that reads the crafted file. This issue is fixed in version 2.3.0.","modified":"2026-10-17T12:58:43.442594976Z","published":"2026-10-16T00:00:00Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-104266"],"references":[{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://ubuntu.com/security/CVE-2026-104266"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-104266"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://github.com/tinytag/tinytag/commit/9ada221ba44990cb02cd9002d992186e037b515e"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://github.com/tinytag/tinytag/pull/326"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://github.com/tinytag/tinytag/releases/tag/2.3.0"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://github.com/tinytag/tinytag/security/advisories/GHSA-24cc-9352-h2pg"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"python-tinytag","ecosystem":"Ubuntu:26.10","purl":"pkg:deb/ubuntu/python-tinytag?arch=source&distro=stonking"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"}]}],"versions":["2.3.0-2"],"ecosystem_specific":{"binaries":[{"binary_name":"python3-tinytag","binary_version":"2.3.0-2"}]},"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-security-notices/blob/main/osv/cve/2026/UBUNTU-CVE-2026-104266.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"},{"type":"Ubuntu","score":"medium"}]}
