{"id":"UBUNTU-CVE-2019-14317","details":"wolfSSL and wolfCrypt 4.1.0 and earlier (formerly known as CyaSSL) generate biased DSA nonces. This allows a remote attacker to compute the long term private key from several hundred DSA signatures via a lattice attack. The issue occurs because dsa.c fixes two bits of the generated nonces.","modified":"2026-04-22T12:10:44.877966Z","published":"2019-12-11T18:16:00Z","upstream":["CVE-2019-14317"],"references":[{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://ubuntu.com/security/CVE-2019-14317"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://www.wolfssl.com/docs/security-vulnerabilities/"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2019-14317"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"wolfssl","ecosystem":"Ubuntu:16.04:LTS","purl":"pkg:deb/ubuntu/wolfssl@3.4.8+dfsg-1?arch=source&distro=xenial"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"}]}],"versions":["3.4.8+dfsg-1"],"ecosystem_specific":{"binaries":[{"binary_name":"libcyassl5","binary_version":"3.4.8+dfsg-1"},{"binary_name":"libwolfssl0","binary_version":"3.4.8+dfsg-1"}]},"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-security-notices/blob/main/osv/cve/2019/UBUNTU-CVE-2019-14317.json"}},{"package":{"name":"wolfssl","ecosystem":"Ubuntu:18.04:LTS","purl":"pkg:deb/ubuntu/wolfssl@3.13.0+dfsg-1?arch=source&distro=bionic"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"}]}],"versions":["3.10.2+dfsg-2","3.12.0+dfsg-1","3.12.2+dfsg-1","3.13.0+dfsg-1"],"ecosystem_specific":{"binaries":[{"binary_name":"libwolfssl15","binary_version":"3.13.0+dfsg-1"}]},"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-security-notices/blob/main/osv/cve/2019/UBUNTU-CVE-2019-14317.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N"},{"type":"Ubuntu","score":"medium"}]}
