{"id":"RLSA-2026:51075","summary":"Important: gpsd security update","details":"gpsd is a service daemon that mediates access to a GPS sensor connected to the host computer by serial or USB interface, making its data on the location/course/velocity of the sensor available to be queried on TCP port 2947 of the host computer.  With gpsd, multiple GPS client applications (such as navigational and war-driving software) can share access to a GPS without contention or loss of data.  Also, gpsd responds to queries with a format that is substantially easier to parse than NMEA 0183.  The Rocky Enterprise Software Foundation support for this package is limited. See https://access.redhat.com/support/policy/gpsd-support for more details.\n\nSecurity Fix(es):\n\n* gpsd: gpsd: Command Injection via GPS device subtype allows arbitrary code execution (CVE-2026-58459)\n\nFor more details about the security issue(s), including the impact, a CVSS score, acknowledgments, and other related information, refer to the CVE page(s) listed in the References section.","modified":"2026-08-07T12:30:05.578245738Z","published":"2026-08-07T12:07:56.374775Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-58459"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://errata.rockylinux.org/RLSA-2026:51075"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2498575"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"gpsd","ecosystem":"Rocky Linux:10","purl":"pkg:rpm/rocky-linux/gpsd?distro=rocky-linux-10&epoch=1"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"1:3.26.1-3.el10_2.1"}],"database_specific":{"yum_repository":"AppStream"}}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/resf-osv-data/RLSA-2026:51075.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.8.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"}],"credits":[{"name":"Rocky Enterprise Software Foundation"},{"name":"Red Hat"}]}
