{"id":"PYSEC-2026-1066","summary":"wolfCrypt leaks cryptographic information via timing side channel","details":"wolfSSL and wolfCrypt 4.0.0 and earlier (when configured without `--enable-fpecc`, `--enable-sp`, or` --enable-sp-math`) contain a timing side channel in ECDSA signature generation. This allows a local attacker, able to precisely measure the duration of signature operations, to infer information about the nonces used and potentially mount a lattice attack to recover the private key used. The issue occurs because ecc.c scalar multiplication might leak the bit length.","aliases":["CVE-2019-13628","GHSA-q95h-vc86-hv77"],"modified":"2026-07-07T11:45:36.876574658Z","published":"2026-07-06T08:03:28.431283Z","references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2019-13628"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://eprint.iacr.org/2011/232.pdf"},{"type":"PACKAGE","url":"https://github.com/wolfSSL/wolfcrypt-py"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://minerva.crocs.fi.muni.cz"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://tches.iacr.org/index.php/TCHES/article/view/7337"},{"type":"WEB","url":"http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2019/10/02/2"},{"type":"PACKAGE","url":"https://pypi.org/project/wolfcrypt"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-q95h-vc86-hv77"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"wolfcrypt","ecosystem":"PyPI","purl":"pkg:pypi/wolfcrypt"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"4.1.0"}]}],"versions":["0.1.8","0.1.9","0.2.0","0.2.6","3.12.2.post0","3.13.0.post1","3.14.0.post1","3.14.2.post0"],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/pypa/advisory-database/blob/main/vulns/wolfcrypt/PYSEC-2026-1066.yaml"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N"}]}
