{"id":"OESA-2026-4284","summary":"sssd security update","details":"Provides a set of daemons to manage access to remote directories and authentication mechanisms. It provides an NSS and PAM interface toward the system and a pluggable back end system to connect to multiple different account sources. It is also the basis to provide client auditing and policy services for projects like FreeIPA.\r\n\r\nSecurity Fix(es):\n\nA flaw was found in sssd, specifically within the PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules) responder's protocol v1 parser, pam_parse_in_data(). A local client with access to the PAM responder's UNIX socket can exploit this by negotiating protocol v1 and sending an empty or truncated PAM request body. This can trigger an out-of-bounds read, potentially causing the PAM responder to terminate or restart, leading to a local denial of service.(CVE-2026-90994)\n\nA flaw was found in SSSD (System Security Services Daemon). A local attacker with privileges to connect to the PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules) responder socket can send a specially crafted protocol request. If the `pam_app_services` configuration is enabled and the service item is omitted from the request, a NULL pointer dereference can occur. This vulnerability leads to a denial of service, causing the PAM responder to crash and disrupt authentication services.(CVE-2026-90995)\n\nA flaw was found in sssd. A local unprivileged user could send a specially crafted request with a zero-length body to the Network Security Services (NSS) responder. This could lead to a denial-of-service condition, causing the NSS responder to become unstable or terminate. This vulnerability affects the availability of the system responder.(CVE-2026-90996)","modified":"2026-10-16T12:15:07.184753934Z","published":"2026-10-16T11:58:56Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-90994","CVE-2026-90995","CVE-2026-90996"],"database_specific":{"severity":"Medium"},"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://www.openeuler.org/zh/security/security-bulletins/detail/?id=openEuler-SA-2026-4284"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-90994"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-90995"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-90996"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"sssd","ecosystem":"openEuler:22.03-LTS-SP4","purl":"pkg:rpm/openEuler/sssd&distro=openEuler-22.03-LTS-SP4"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.6.1-33.oe2203sp4"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"noarch":["sssd-help-2.6.1-33.oe2203sp4.noarch.rpm"],"src":["sssd-2.6.1-33.oe2203sp4.src.rpm"],"x86_64":["python3-sssd-2.6.1-33.oe2203sp4.x86_64.rpm","sssd-2.6.1-33.oe2203sp4.x86_64.rpm","sssd-debuginfo-2.6.1-33.oe2203sp4.x86_64.rpm","sssd-debugsource-2.6.1-33.oe2203sp4.x86_64.rpm","sssd-devel-2.6.1-33.oe2203sp4.x86_64.rpm"],"aarch64":["python3-sssd-2.6.1-33.oe2203sp4.aarch64.rpm","sssd-2.6.1-33.oe2203sp4.aarch64.rpm","sssd-debuginfo-2.6.1-33.oe2203sp4.aarch64.rpm","sssd-debugsource-2.6.1-33.oe2203sp4.aarch64.rpm","sssd-devel-2.6.1-33.oe2203sp4.aarch64.rpm"]},"database_specific":{"source":"https://repo.openeuler.org/security/data/osv/OESA-2026-4284.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}
