{"id":"MGASA-2023-0136","summary":"Updated imgagmagick packages fix security vulnerability","details":"A vulnerability was discovered in ImageMagick where a specially created\nSVG file loads itself and causes a segmentation fault. This flaw allows a\nremote attacker to pass a specially crafted SVG file that leads to a\nsegmentation fault, generating many trash files in \"/tmp,\" resulting in a\ndenial of service. When ImageMagick crashes, it generates a lot of trash\nfiles. These trash files can be large if the SVG file contains many render\nactions. In a denial of service attack, if a remote attacker uploads an\nSVG file of size t, ImageMagick generates files of size 103*t. If an\nattacker uploads a 100M SVG, the server will generate about 10G.\n(CVE-2023-1289)\n","modified":"2026-04-16T04:43:44.277141932Z","published":"2023-04-11T19:02:20Z","upstream":["CVE-2023-1289"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2023-0136.html"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31761"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://lists.suse.com/pipermail/sle-security-updates/2023-April/014341.html"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/ImageMagick/ImageMagick/security/advisories/GHSA-j96m-mjp6-99xr"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"imagemagick","ecosystem":"Mageia:8","purl":"pkg:rpm/mageia/imagemagick?arch=source&distro=mageia-8"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"7.1.0.62-1.mga8"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"section":"core"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2023-0136.json"}},{"package":{"name":"imagemagick","ecosystem":"Mageia:8","purl":"pkg:rpm/mageia/imagemagick?arch=source&distro=mageia-8"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"7.1.0.62-1.mga8.tainted"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"section":"tainted"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2023-0136.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","credits":[{"name":"Mageia","contact":["https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Packages_Security_Team"],"type":"COORDINATOR"}]}
