{"id":"MGASA-2023-0018","summary":"Updated firefox packages fix security vulnerability","details":"A vulnerability was found in NSS. The NSS client auth crashes without a user\ncertificate in the database, leading to a segmentation fault or crash\n(CVE-2022-3479).\n\nAn out of date library (libusrsctp) contained vulnerabilities that could\npotentially be exploited (CVE-2022-46871).\n\nBy confusing the browser, the fullscreen notification could have been delayed\nor suppressed, resulting in potential user confusion or spoofing attacks\n(CVE-2022-46877).\n\nDue to the Firefox GTK wrapper code's use of text/plain for drag data and GTK\ntreating all text/plain MIMEs containing file URLs as being dragged a website\ncould arbitrarily read a file via a call to DataTransfer.setData\n(CVE-2023-23598).\n\nNavigations were being allowed when dragging a URL from a cross-origin iframe\ninto the same tab which could lead to website spoofing attacks\n(CVE-2023-23601).\n\nA mishandled security check when creating a WebSocket in a WebWorker caused\nthe Content Security Policy connect-src header to be ignored. This could lead\nto connections to restricted origins from inside WebWorkers (CVE-2023-23602).\n\nRegular expressions used to filter out forbidden properties and values from\nstyle directives in calls to console.log weren't accounting for external URLs,\nallowing bypassing Content Security Policy via format directives. Data could\nthen be potentially exfiltrated from the browser (CVE-2023-23603).\n\nMozilla developers and the Mozilla Fuzzing Team reported memory safety bugs\npresent in Firefox ESR 102.6. Some of these bugs showed evidence of memory\ncorruption and we presume that with enough effort some of these could have\nbeen exploited to run arbitrary code (CVE-2023-23605).\n","modified":"2026-04-16T04:41:03.328977839Z","published":"2023-01-24T07:58:25Z","upstream":["CVE-2022-3479","CVE-2022-46871","CVE-2022-46877","CVE-2023-23598","CVE-2023-23601","CVE-2023-23602","CVE-2023-23603","CVE-2023-23605"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2023-0018.html"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31415"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://groups.google.com/a/mozilla.org/g/dev-tech-crypto/c/7D6OeqrEDcE"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://firefox-source-docs.mozilla.org/security/nss/releases/nss_3_87.html"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/advisories/mfsa2023-02/"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://lists.opensuse.org/archives/list/security-announce@lists.opensuse.org/thread/YPGIG3RLJJT2HMZS76SNGJZMTWOTMFUX/"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2023:0288"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"firefox","ecosystem":"Mageia:8","purl":"pkg:rpm/mageia/firefox?arch=source&distro=mageia-8"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"102.7.0-1.mga8"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"section":"core"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2023-0018.json"}},{"package":{"name":"firefox-l10n","ecosystem":"Mageia:8","purl":"pkg:rpm/mageia/firefox-l10n?arch=source&distro=mageia-8"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"102.7.0-1.mga8"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"section":"core"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2023-0018.json"}},{"package":{"name":"nss","ecosystem":"Mageia:8","purl":"pkg:rpm/mageia/nss?arch=source&distro=mageia-8"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"3.87.0-1.mga8"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"section":"core"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2023-0018.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","credits":[{"name":"Mageia","contact":["https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Packages_Security_Team"],"type":"COORDINATOR"}]}
