{"id":"MAL-2026-18276","summary":"Malicious code in @drone-js-ext/core (npm)","details":"\n---\n_-= Per source details. Do not edit below this line.=-_\n\n## Source: amazon-inspector (9173b1e0c1d01cafb58dfbcad8b59a50f49700cc911e22df2787f5a92b4c6e43)\nThe package ships a `beacon.cjs` that collects host identifiers (hostname, install path, current working directory, Node version) and POSTs them in cleartext to the hardcoded bare-IP endpoint http://185.158.107.175:8787/_ah/dc. This beacon is wired to run automatically in two places: `package.json` declares `scripts.postinstall = \"node beacon.cjs\"`, so it executes on `npm install`, and `index.js` also invokes the same `fire()` function at module load, so it executes again on `require()`. The remainder of the package is a no-op Proxy shim with no functional code matching the stated `Compatibility shim` description. The scope-and-version shape (`@drone-js-ext/core` at version 99.0.1 against a plausibly internal `@drone-js-ext/*` namespace) matches a dependency-confusion lure designed to be resolved in place of a private internal package. A README self-label of `dependency-confusion test` does not change the behavior: any installer that resolves this package has host-identifying data sent to a non-vendor, non-registry, bare-IP, plaintext-HTTP collector controlled by a third party.\n","modified":"2026-10-25T15:30:05.563045924Z","published":"2026-10-25T15:08:36Z","database_specific":{"malicious-packages-origins":[{"sha256":"9173b1e0c1d01cafb58dfbcad8b59a50f49700cc911e22df2787f5a92b4c6e43","source":"amazon-inspector","versions":["99.0.1"],"id":"IN-MAL-2026-021702","import_time":"2026-10-25T15:15:15.207666384Z","modified_time":"2026-10-25T15:08:36Z"}]},"references":[{"type":"PACKAGE","url":"https://www.npmjs.com/package/@drone-js-ext/core/v/99.0.1"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"@drone-js-ext/core","ecosystem":"npm","purl":"pkg:npm/%40drone-js-ext/core"},"versions":["99.0.1"],"database_specific":{"cwes":[{"name":"Embedded Malicious Code","cweId":"CWE-506","description":"The product contains code that appears to be malicious in nature."}],"indicators":{"evidence_files":[{"path":"beacon.cjs","sha256":"536400306df71e064363b6792a44b6e46f2821cda56fdbbc6bb2c2558b08d974","tlsh":"893161eba8e4a0089ea77498c54f0409f17af4068401ab50fd5c82919f6153c33fa8dc"},{"sha256":"eeaaf7fb2af2102c7fb0f3e5cbc141bd3d7f23ba2d8d10b53f6c0f33aa8632e7","tlsh":"edd05e2099205e2368c96ee20d766a0a55b20dab05547c1437d7505c46acb3725fe27d","path":"package.json"}],"package_integrity":[{"filename":"core-99.0.1.tgz","hashes":{"sha1":"e6e89fb4d23a3c7247635ef80de9947e81d62ea4","sha512_sri":"sha512-ULkr+8j6oaBB3nG4FVAyKiVue1jVwpPhTynNNpSWw2ziHzlc0TKh+IGiwZ7DXQ67HtAygumtciUc37VuoqgV4A=="}}]},"source":"https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/main/osv/malicious/npm/@drone-js-ext/core/MAL-2026-18276.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","credits":[{"name":"Amazon Inspector","contact":["inspector-research@amazon.com"],"type":"FINDER"}]}
