{"id":"MAL-2026-15816","summary":"Malicious code in order-package-saas (npm)","details":"\n---\n_-= Per source details. Do not edit below this line.=-_\n\n## Source: amazon-inspector (bb09ffe18928cf319d13dc52111750c394330d53b38b4d8814b0d2372471308e)\nThe package's postinstall hook executes index.js, which sweeps installer-owned secrets from the home directory (.npmrc,.yarnrc,.gitconfig,.git-credentials, ~/.ssh/* private keys, ~/.aws/credentials and SSO cache, GCP application_default_credentials, Azure tokens, kubeconfig, Docker config, Terraform credentials, GitHub CLI hosts, Heroku.netrc, Vercel/Netlify/Supabase/Firebase tokens, VSCode settings, PyPI/gem/cargo credentials) and enumerates process.env for values matching TOKEN/KEY/SECRET/PASSWORD patterns, including AI provider API keys. The collected data — together with hostname, username, platform, architecture, cwd and Node version — is base64-encoded and transmitted over HTTPS to api.telegram.org/bot\u003credacted\u003e/sendMessage (chat_id 8607833954) and over HTTP to 2.26.82.63:8888/collect. Execution is gated to early-return when NODE_ENV=test, CI=true, JEST_WORKER_ID or VITEST are set, or /.dockerenv exists, and is delayed by a randomized 5–15 second sleep to evade sandbox and CI observation. The package name and 999.0.1 version are consistent with a dependency-confusion lure targeting an internal package.\n\n## Source: ossf-package-analysis (208338bb85a27cd136d36a4cd4797ccc697b42e175c9b400324648782c08b2fb)\nThe OpenSSF Package Analysis project identified 'order-package-saas' @ 999.0.1 (npm) as malicious.\n\nIt is considered malicious because:\n\n- The package communicates with a domain associated with malicious activity.\n","modified":"2026-09-03T06:45:05.633399204Z","published":"2026-09-01T17:26:11Z","database_specific":{"malicious-packages-origins":[{"id":"IN-MAL-2026-019328","import_time":"2026-09-02T04:23:33.38995881Z","modified_time":"2026-09-02T03:57:40Z","sha256":"bb09ffe18928cf319d13dc52111750c394330d53b38b4d8814b0d2372471308e","source":"amazon-inspector","versions":["999.0.1"]},{"import_time":"2026-09-02T04:23:33.311616495Z","modified_time":"2026-09-02T03:57:33Z","sha256":"e9cdb23f67bf90ab841c14a66b87c064c30abd9ba93609aa61ce7fcce74aeb1b","source":"amazon-inspector","versions":["999.0.0"],"id":"IN-MAL-2026-019327"},{"versions":["999.0.1"],"import_time":"2026-09-03T06:30:16.841952048Z","modified_time":"2026-09-01T17:26:11Z","sha256":"208338bb85a27cd136d36a4cd4797ccc697b42e175c9b400324648782c08b2fb","source":"ossf-package-analysis"}]},"references":[{"type":"PACKAGE","url":"https://www.npmjs.com/package/order-package-saas/v/999.0.1"},{"type":"PACKAGE","url":"https://www.npmjs.com/package/order-package-saas/v/999.0.0"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"order-package-saas","ecosystem":"npm","purl":"pkg:npm/order-package-saas"},"versions":["999.0.1","999.0.0"],"database_specific":{"indicators":{"evidence_files":[{"path":"index.js","sha256":"b8c840cabee2ef2ab6178fee79af1df16827c47c486f9a173c532712c292f6be","tlsh":"1b12339b15fb35598223f27adf5f8017212eada36106dd443a0c89d01f4c66cdba1f9c"}],"package_integrity":[{"hashes":{"sha1":"0914971f5f729a491ce1c772b8588ba7b39b05f6","sha512_sri":"sha512-V6Pmp+0JgzZUEprfqYKa4JD7eeT6ce4JrzztfrBD7v8ZMZou0JHY0fJYnrHwVwgXrKlKm6mkLWcyXJjJENO1ww=="},"filename":"order-package-saas-999.0.1.tgz"}]},"source":"https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/main/osv/malicious/npm/order-package-saas/MAL-2026-15816.json","cwes":[{"name":"Embedded Malicious Code","cweId":"CWE-506","description":"The product contains code that appears to be malicious in nature."},{"description":"The product contains code that appears to be malicious in nature.","name":"Embedded Malicious Code","cweId":"CWE-506"}]}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","credits":[{"name":"Amazon Inspector","contact":["inspector-research@amazon.com"],"type":"FINDER"},{"name":"OpenSSF: Package Analysis","contact":["https://github.com/ossf/package-analysis","https://openssf.slack.com/channels/package_analysis"],"type":"FINDER"}]}
