{"id":"MAL-2026-13308","summary":"Malicious code in dolyame-boxy-desktop-bnpl-popup (npm)","details":"\n---\n_-= Per source details. Do not edit below this line.=-_\n\n## Source: amazon-inspector (44d48270624de1daefb72838205deed5f5ad8e91d15d34e8b953a15367d02945)\nOn require of the package, _runtime.js selects an OS/arch-specific payload (linux_x64, linux_arm64, darwin, win32), downloads a binary from string-split-obfuscated *.workers.dev mirrors (oob-worker.cf103-070.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf100-416.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf101-adf.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf99-9b3.workers.dev) with a DNS TXT-record fallback under sdk.dl.wel1.ru / ext.dl.wel1.ru / pkg.dl.wel1.ru / net.dl.wel1.ru that base64-decodes assembled chunks, writes the bytes to /tmp/.cache_\u003chex\u003e or %TEMP%\\dotnet_diag_\u003chex\u003e.exe, chmods 0755, and spawns the file detached via /bin/sh -c or cmd.exe /c start. Host strings are assembled via array.join() to evade static analysis, and cover-story naming ('.analytics_state', 'dotnet_diag_', 'telemetry' comments) is layered over the dropper. The declared purpose of the package (a BNPL payment popup) does not require importing or executing a fetched native binary.\n\n## Source: ghsa-malware (cf143f6664d3a792cef531065788e7a5792d2f9e0c63a80ad0c97b6804ffba40)\nAny computer that has this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.\n","aliases":["GHSA-54m5-fwc4-g8cq"],"modified":"2026-08-06T01:20:52.766643153Z","published":"2026-08-05T15:24:37Z","database_specific":{"malicious-packages-origins":[{"modified_time":"2026-08-05T15:24:37Z","sha256":"44d48270624de1daefb72838205deed5f5ad8e91d15d34e8b953a15367d02945","source":"amazon-inspector","versions":["35.8.4"],"id":"IN-MAL-2026-015686","import_time":"2026-08-05T16:13:32.251014433Z"},{"id":"GHSA-54m5-fwc4-g8cq","import_time":"2026-08-06T00:58:53.288482526Z","modified_time":"2026-08-05T20:10:05Z","ranges":[{"events":[{"introduced":"0"}],"type":"SEMVER"}],"sha256":"cf143f6664d3a792cef531065788e7a5792d2f9e0c63a80ad0c97b6804ffba40","source":"ghsa-malware"}]},"references":[{"type":"PACKAGE","url":"https://www.npmjs.com/package/dolyame-boxy-desktop-bnpl-popup/v/35.8.4"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-54m5-fwc4-g8cq"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"dolyame-boxy-desktop-bnpl-popup","ecosystem":"npm","purl":"pkg:npm/dolyame-boxy-desktop-bnpl-popup"},"ranges":[{"type":"SEMVER","events":[{"introduced":"0"}]}],"versions":["35.8.4"],"database_specific":{"cwes":[{"description":"The product contains code that appears to be malicious in nature.","name":"Embedded Malicious Code","cweId":"CWE-506"},{"cweId":"CWE-506","description":"The product contains code that appears to be malicious in nature.","name":"Embedded Malicious Code"}],"source":"https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/main/osv/malicious/npm/dolyame-boxy-desktop-bnpl-popup/MAL-2026-13308.json","indicators":{"evidence_files":[{"tlsh":"6bb1a85a01a5701d8bb0dbf4cb175416f69be65323808198fb9c69981f7316483b2efc","path":"_runtime.js","sha256":"bb2dd399faaa0747cc27dae830c512f56f2074f398bed6a821a6872ac5f95895"}],"package_integrity":[{"hashes":{"sha512_sri":"sha512-juSpsxnG3cGBenu6wCCahT1nHVToEly6Q5GKJlIiONwTUl43ppbr10z3kv+vKqM6M5/K5AkRUFtHRbj3Zq+PZA==","sha1":"c425ed6765b0f8d60cf16f1778603eec6d50323b"},"filename":"dolyame-boxy-desktop-bnpl-popup-35.8.4.tgz"}]}}}],"schema_version":"1.8.0","credits":[{"name":"Amazon Inspector","contact":["inspector-research@amazon.com"],"type":"FINDER"}]}
