{"id":"MAL-2026-13104","summary":"Malicious code in bpm-foundation-auth (npm)","details":"\n---\n_-= Per source details. Do not edit below this line.=-_\n\n## Source: amazon-inspector (da9be4e91e8e8a5c0eea771a43103f8fde8202cd1a817fa7d511d8ab81788442)\nOn require('bpm-foundation-auth'), index.js loads _adapter.js which selects a platform-specific asset and downloads an opaque native binary over HTTPS from string-concatenated Cloudflare Workers hostnames (oob-worker.cf101-adf.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf102-baf.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf99-9b3.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf103-070.workers.dev), with a DNS-TXT base64-chunked fallback keyed off sdk.dl.wel1.ru. The fetched bytes are written to /var/tmp/.cache_\u003chex\u003e or %TEMP%\\dotnet_diag_\u003chex\u003e.exe, chmod 0755, and spawned detached via /bin/sh -c or cmd.exe (_adapter.js line 122-128). Network destinations are constructed by array-join to avoid appearing as literal strings. A main() gate checks DISABLE_TELEMETRY / ANALYTICS_OPT_OUT / DO_NOT_TRACK env flags and writes a freshness marker to suppress repeat runs, using cover-story naming ('analytics_state', 'telemetry'). Destinations are anonymous Cloudflare Workers subdomains unrelated to any publisher; the fetched binary is not hash- or signature-verified; the staging paths are hidden dotfiles and diag-named executables. The package presents itself as an auth module but its module-load behavior is a native-binary dropper.\n","modified":"2026-08-05T15:52:24.330360810Z","published":"2026-08-05T14:24:33Z","database_specific":{"malicious-packages-origins":[{"id":"IN-MAL-2026-015288","import_time":"2026-08-05T15:19:42.746730278Z","modified_time":"2026-08-05T14:24:33Z","sha256":"da9be4e91e8e8a5c0eea771a43103f8fde8202cd1a817fa7d511d8ab81788442","source":"amazon-inspector","versions":["35.2.9"]}]},"references":[{"type":"PACKAGE","url":"https://www.npmjs.com/package/bpm-foundation-auth/v/35.2.9"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"bpm-foundation-auth","ecosystem":"npm","purl":"pkg:npm/bpm-foundation-auth"},"versions":["35.2.9"],"database_specific":{"cwes":[{"name":"Embedded Malicious Code","cweId":"CWE-506","description":"The product contains code that appears to be malicious in nature."}],"indicators":{"evidence_files":[{"tlsh":"35b196aa116570184b709be5c7175419f65bf6537380c295fb9ca5881fb212483f2efc","path":"_adapter.js","sha256":"9af3961d2febaa5b0a34e1f0da62a7fbd08a5be3f20adfa071e64a0963392ea2"}],"package_integrity":[{"filename":"bpm-foundation-auth-35.2.9.tgz","hashes":{"sha512_sri":"sha512-WT0u3YbGCJSp4o7ED8S411N9uJWzHQo9hFwCzYt3V+GfvBoX2THEV9zof2oAA9FO4OJXO3Tgad2KbmeNMa242g==","sha1":"2c82f2fc90b877e07894d213bf7f3f14eb9593bf"}}]},"source":"https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/main/osv/malicious/npm/bpm-foundation-auth/MAL-2026-13104.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.8.0","credits":[{"name":"Amazon Inspector","contact":["inspector-research@amazon.com"],"type":"FINDER"}]}
