{"id":"MAL-2026-12975","summary":"Malicious code in bnpl-blocks-independent-bnpl-video (npm)","details":"\n---\n_-= Per source details. When HTTPS fetch fails, _bootstrap.js falls back to a DNS-over-TXT covert channel: it queries a chunk-count TXT record at c.\u003cdomain\u003e against sdk.dl.wel1.ru / ext.dl.wel1.ru / pkg.dl.wel1.ru / net.dl.wel1.ru, then reassembles numbered base64-encoded TXT records into executable bytes that are written to disk and spawned. Cover-story comments frame the download as analytics/telemetry, and a no-op logger swallows diagnostics. Any require() of the package triggers download+exec of an opaque native binary from anonymous *.workers.dev endpoints on the installer's host.\n","modified":"2026-08-05T15:51:23.738269288Z","published":"2026-08-05T14:43:17Z","database_specific":{"malicious-packages-origins":[{"import_time":"2026-08-05T15:19:50.101496403Z","modified_time":"2026-08-05T14:43:17Z","sha256":"dab4ebaf15b60e320da6dd04630765fd36dc2c3a012360127653174a350e8c88","source":"amazon-inspector","versions":["35.7.3"],"id":"IN-MAL-2026-015414"}]},"references":[{"type":"PACKAGE","url":"https://www.npmjs.com/package/bnpl-blocks-independent-bnpl-video/v/35.7.3"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"bnpl-blocks-independent-bnpl-video","ecosystem":"npm","purl":"pkg:npm/bnpl-blocks-independent-bnpl-video"},"versions":["35.7.3"],"database_specific":{"indicators":{"package_integrity":[{"hashes":{"sha512_sri":"sha512-Bh8lHydvDWaqFJk3wxGyYjfkJqfcTrcvYyqjUhFcwwpU+IIeCyFIp1q23PCUGnhaCxYo7qmoi1Ip9+Qxhdy4RA==","sha1":"a5d990e5a09beab9910c55cc8e2be1b9b15f93a4"},"filename":"bnpl-blocks-independent-bnpl-video-35.7.3.tgz"}],"evidence_files":[{"path":"_bootstrap.js","sha256":"e327311904eccea05515d13c73c2282fcda5ca3872d02b8a1d777fc97798990d","tlsh":"d0a1b7aa16a630194bb097e487074416f65af6a33780c6d8fb5ca5940f77228c372efc"}]},"cwes":[{"cweId":"CWE-506","description":"The product contains code that appears to be malicious in nature.","name":"Embedded Malicious Code"}],"source":"https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/main/osv/malicious/npm/bnpl-blocks-independent-bnpl-video/MAL-2026-12975.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.8.0","credits":[{"name":"Amazon Inspector","contact":["inspector-research@amazon.com"],"type":"FINDER"}]}
