{"id":"MAL-2026-11060","summary":"Malicious code in f0-form-manipulator (npm)","details":"\n---\n_-= Per source details. Do not edit below this line.=-_\n\n## Source: amazon-inspector (058782981a80d3fc90af74a840a00cefa0c58b9861c481d0444b7f4f3e6a014b)\nOn npm install, the package's preinstall hook executes index.js, which collects host identifiers (os.hostname, os.platform, os.arch, os.homedir, dns.getServers) and POSTs them as JSON to a hardcoded Burp Collaborator subdomain at v62io3r4g3itdnqjg9h9pnh2mtslge43.oastify.com/hit. The exfiltration fires automatically without user interaction and reveals internal hostnames, platform details, and DNS configuration of any machine that installs the package. Behavior and naming are consistent with a dependency-confusion callback beacon.\n\n## Source: ghsa-malware (b44787fd6b711e395dc87ae7f5235d0e80d5591a925f9149319aa7d6ba3f0f72)\nAny computer that has this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.\n\n## Source: ossf-package-analysis (e78bd44b3fd8116ff604f6faacbbf84e80c45af83fc6493040a20dd96a1eaa93)\nThe OpenSSF Package Analysis project identified 'f0-form-manipulator' @ 28.0.0 (npm) as malicious.\n\nIt is considered malicious because:\n\n- The package communicates with a domain associated with malicious activity.\n","aliases":["GHSA-r235-8hvg-777j"],"modified":"2026-08-04T23:05:06.198077360Z","published":"2026-07-25T09:44:24Z","database_specific":{"malicious-packages-origins":[{"modified_time":"2026-07-25T09:44:24Z","sha256":"e78bd44b3fd8116ff604f6faacbbf84e80c45af83fc6493040a20dd96a1eaa93","source":"ossf-package-analysis","versions":["28.0.0"],"import_time":"2026-07-25T10:35:55.197453849Z"},{"source":"ghsa-malware","id":"GHSA-r235-8hvg-777j","import_time":"2026-07-28T02:02:27.893301Z","modified_time":"2026-07-27T16:15:19Z","ranges":[{"events":[{"introduced":"0"}],"type":"SEMVER"}],"sha256":"b44787fd6b711e395dc87ae7f5235d0e80d5591a925f9149319aa7d6ba3f0f72"},{"sha256":"058782981a80d3fc90af74a840a00cefa0c58b9861c481d0444b7f4f3e6a014b","source":"amazon-inspector","versions":["28.0.0"],"id":"IN-MAL-2026-011117","import_time":"2026-08-04T22:30:00.070134053Z","modified_time":"2026-08-04T21:34:59Z"}]},"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-r235-8hvg-777j"},{"type":"PACKAGE","url":"https://www.npmjs.com/package/f0-form-manipulator/v/28.0.0"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"f0-form-manipulator","ecosystem":"npm","purl":"pkg:npm/f0-form-manipulator"},"ranges":[{"type":"SEMVER","events":[{"introduced":"0"}]}],"versions":["28.0.0"],"database_specific":{"indicators":{"evidence_files":[{"path":"index.js","sha256":"ac24b530c9e2c06434b96415d469ca382d8157243cea051df12a0e859f1d264e","tlsh":"4bf081e4e5f56aa117b695c0b0b6650a5323d673780bb4d05fc8026607cedf841b5af4"}]},"source":"https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/main/osv/malicious/npm/f0-form-manipulator/MAL-2026-11060.json","cwes":[{"name":"Embedded Malicious Code","cweId":"CWE-506","description":"The product contains code that appears to be malicious in nature."},{"cweId":"CWE-506","description":"The product contains code that appears to be malicious in nature.","name":"Embedded Malicious Code"}]}}],"schema_version":"1.8.0","credits":[{"name":"Amazon Inspector","contact":["inspector-research@amazon.com"],"type":"FINDER"},{"name":"OpenSSF: Package Analysis","contact":["https://github.com/ossf/package-analysis","https://openssf.slack.com/channels/package_analysis"],"type":"FINDER"}]}
