{"id":"DEBIAN-CVE-2026-26076","details":"ntpd-rs is a full-featured implementation of the Network Time Protocol. Prior to 1.7.1, an attacker can remotely induce moderate increases (2-4 times above normal) in cpu usage. When having NTS enabled on an ntpd-rs server, an attacker can create malformed NTS packets that take significantly more effort for the server to respond to by requesting a large number of cookies. This can lead to degraded server performance even when a server could otherwise handle the load. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.7.1.","modified":"2026-09-14T17:03:00.666681255Z","published":"2026-02-12T22:16:06.960Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-26076"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2026-26076"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"rust-ntp-proto","ecosystem":"Debian:13","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/rust-ntp-proto?arch=source&distro=trixie"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"1.4.0-4+deb13u1"}]}],"versions":["1.4.0-4"],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2026-26076.json"}},{"package":{"name":"rust-ntp-proto","ecosystem":"Debian:14","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/rust-ntp-proto?arch=source&distro=forky"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"1.7.1-1"}]}],"versions":["1.4.0-4","1.6.0-1","1.6.2-1","1.6.2-2","1.6.2-3","1.6.2-4"],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2026-26076.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}
