{"id":"DEBIAN-CVE-2026-103678","details":"A flaw was found in tnef. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by providing a specially crafted file containing uncompressed Rich Text Format (RTF) data. Because the application fails to properly validate input buffer boundaries before copying data in get_rtf_data_from_buf(), reading beyond the allocated memory occurs. This flaw can cause the application to crash, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS), or leak sensitive memory contents into extracted output files.","modified":"2026-10-02T17:00:07.091383121Z","published":"2026-10-01T12:17:15.557Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-103678"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2026-103678"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"tnef","ecosystem":"Debian:12","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/tnef?arch=source&distro=bookworm"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"}]}],"versions":["1.4.18-3","1.4.18-4","1.4.18-5","1.4.18-6"],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"unimportant"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2026-103678.json"}},{"package":{"name":"tnef","ecosystem":"Debian:13","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/tnef?arch=source&distro=trixie"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"}]}],"versions":["1.4.18-4","1.4.18-5","1.4.18-6"],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"unimportant"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2026-103678.json"}},{"package":{"name":"tnef","ecosystem":"Debian:14","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/tnef?arch=source&distro=forky"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"}]}],"versions":["1.4.18-4","1.4.18-5","1.4.18-6"],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"unimportant"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2026-103678.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:L"}]}
