{"id":"DEBIAN-CVE-2026-102825","details":"Russh is a Rust SSH client and server library. Prior to 0.62.6, the USERAUTH_REQUEST path reached from server::run_stream in russh/src/server/encrypted.rs increments self.common.auth_attempts but never compares it with server::Config.max_auth_attempts. An unauthenticated remote client can continue submitting authentication requests on one connection beyond the configured cap, bypassing the deployment's attempt-limiting policy and increasing online guessing opportunity and backend authentication workload. This issue is fixed in version 0.62.6.","modified":"2026-10-14T16:00:05.967334201Z","published":"2026-09-29T19:17:24.713Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-102825"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2026-102825"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"rust-russh","ecosystem":"Debian:14","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/rust-russh?arch=source&distro=forky"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"0.64.1-1"}]}],"versions":["0.57.1-1","0.57.1-2"],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2026-102825.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N"}]}
