{"id":"DEBIAN-CVE-2025-40932","details":"Apache::SessionX versions through 2.01 for Perl create insecure session id.  Apache::SessionX generates session ids insecurely. The default session id generator in Apache::SessionX::Generate::MD5 returns a MD5 hash seeded with the built-in rand() function, the epoch time, and the PID. The PID will come from a small set of numbers, and the epoch time may be guessed, if it is not leaked from the HTTP Date header. The built-in rand function is unsuitable for cryptographic usage. Predicable session ids could allow an attacker to gain access to systems.","modified":"2026-09-01T20:05:52.380562440Z","published":"2026-02-27T00:16:55.107Z","upstream":["CVE-2025-40932"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2025-40932"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"libapache-sessionx-perl","ecosystem":"Debian:12","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/libapache-sessionx-perl?arch=source&distro=bookworm"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"}]}],"versions":["2.01-5","2.01-6","2.01-7","2.01-8"],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2025-40932.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:L/A:N"}]}
