{"id":"CVE-2026-93070","summary":"media: ipu6: Do not free aux device pdata after init","details":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\nmedia: ipu6: Do not free aux device pdata after init\n\nipu6_bus_initialize_device() stores the isys/psys pdata pointer in\nstruct ipu6_bus_device and initializes the auxiliary device. After that\npoint, error unwinding must drop the auxiliary device reference and let\nipu6_bus_release() free both the bus device and adev-\u003epdata.\n\nThe isys and psys init paths already call put_device() when MMU\ninitialization fails, and ipu6_bus_add_device() calls\nauxiliary_device_uninit() on auxiliary_device_add() failure. Both paths\ntherefore run the bus release callback. The extra kfree(pdata) in the\ncallers can release the same object a second time.\n\nRemove the manual pdata frees after the auxiliary device has been\ninitialized.\n\nThis issue was found by a static analysis checker and confirmed by\nmanual source review.","modified":"2026-09-19T03:47:30.921661424Z","published":"2026-09-17T16:10:54.393Z","database_specific":{"osv_generated_from":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/93xxx/CVE-2026-93070.json","cna_assigner":"Linux"},"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/5323ed5a7bb2568191ec676b2035b0396105aa05"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/7d102d1f0631807a491a140f67c9628dea85dfd2"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/9be07216af4cfc4813e1a46ce26407d31ea845de"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/faa1eb97f0e66bf122f44b62be6b323f86333e9f"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/93xxx/CVE-2026-93070.json"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-93070"},{"type":"PACKAGE","url":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git"}],"affected":[{"ranges":[{"type":"GIT","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","events":[{"introduced":"cb3117b074aefb0320d8d728a0a7f277a121adbd"},{"fixed":"faa1eb97f0e66bf122f44b62be6b323f86333e9f"},{"fixed":"5323ed5a7bb2568191ec676b2035b0396105aa05"},{"fixed":"7d102d1f0631807a491a140f67c9628dea85dfd2"},{"fixed":"9be07216af4cfc4813e1a46ce26407d31ea845de"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/cve-osv-conversion/osv-output/CVE-2026-93070.json"}},{"package":{"name":"Kernel","ecosystem":"Linux"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"6.10.0"},{"fixed":"6.12.110"}]},{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"6.13.0"},{"fixed":"6.18.52"}]},{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"6.19.0"},{"fixed":"7.2.6"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/cve-osv-conversion/osv-output/CVE-2026-93070.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"}]}
