{"id":"CVE-2026-90995","summary":"Sssd: sssd: local denial of service due to null pointer dereference in pam responder","details":"A flaw was found in SSSD (System Security Services Daemon). A local attacker with privileges to connect to the PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules) responder socket can send a specially crafted protocol request. If the `pam_app_services` configuration is enabled and the service item is omitted from the request, a NULL pointer dereference can occur. This vulnerability leads to a denial of service, causing the PAM responder to crash and disrupt authentication services.","modified":"2026-10-16T02:47:47.159302341Z","published":"2026-09-14T15:55:32.674Z","database_specific":{"osv_generated_from":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/90xxx/CVE-2026-90995.json","cna_assigner":"redhat","cwe_ids":["CWE-476"]},"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-90995"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/90xxx/CVE-2026-90995.json"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-90995"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2479464"}],"affected":[{"ranges":[{"type":"GIT","repo":"https://github.com/sssd/sssd","events":[{"introduced":"1a1cf163b78ff4768cc8bfc1e631171bc021e2fe"},{"last_affected":"1a1cf163b78ff4768cc8bfc1e631171bc021e2fe"}],"database_specific":{"extracted_events":[{"introduced":"2.12.0"},{"last_affected":"2.12.0"}],"source":"CPE_STRING","cpe":"cpe:2.3:a:fedoraproject:sssd:2.12.0:*:*:*:*:*:*:*"}}],"versions":["2.12.0"],"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/cve-osv-conversion/osv-output/CVE-2026-90995.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}
