{"id":"CVE-2026-84200","summary":"Kyverno before v1.13.0 Policy Bypass via Multiple Exceptions","details":"Kyverno versions v1.9.0 through v1.12.7 contain a policy exception handling flaw. When a policy in enforce mode is combined with two PolicyExceptions, the less restrictive exception takes precedence, allowing an attacker to bypass the policy by crafting a resource name that matches the second exception's name pattern (e.g., '*ingress*'). This can be used to circumvent policies such as one blocking hostPath volumes. Fixed in v1.13.0.","aliases":["GHSA-gg4x-fgg2-h9w9","GO-2026-4285"],"modified":"2026-09-03T03:48:17.119140626Z","published":"2026-09-01T11:34:00.464Z","database_specific":{"cna_assigner":"VulnCheck","cwe_ids":["CWE-284"],"osv_generated_from":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/84xxx/CVE-2026-84200.json"},"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/84xxx/CVE-2026-84200.json"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/kyverno/kyverno/security/advisories/GHSA-gg4x-fgg2-h9w9"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-84200"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/kyverno-before-1.13.0-policy-bypass-via-multiple-exceptions"}],"affected":[{"ranges":[{"type":"GIT","repo":"https://github.com/kyverno/kyverno","events":[{"introduced":"a1534cc2f581bbc93c15fa5ac42fe5c59f03d66a"},{"fixed":"978c2f3b56df37a8bea4ee649369efaea53a684b"}],"database_specific":{"source":["AFFECTED_FIELD","DESCRIPTION"],"extracted_events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"1.13.0"},{"introduced":"v1.9.0"},{"fixed":"v1.12.7"}]}}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/cve-osv-conversion/osv-output/CVE-2026-84200.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V4","score":"CVSS:4.0/AV:A/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:H/SI:H/SA:H"}]}
