{"id":"CVE-2026-56452","summary":"Apache MINA SSHD: Path traversal in SCP file reception","details":"Path traversal in the sshd-scp component of Apache MINA SSHD. Apache MINA SSHD is a Java library for client-side and server-side SSH.\n\n\n\n\nThe implementation of receiving files or directories via SCP did not validate filenames in SCP \"C\" or \"D\" commands. A malicious sender could send filenames containing paths, resulting in files to be written in attacker-controlled places.\n\n\n\n\nThe issue affects only\n\n  *  applications that use no longer supported Apache MINA SSHD versions \u003c 2.0.0 and use the SCP functions to receive files,\n  *  or applications using sshd-scp in Apache MINA SSHD \u003e= 2.0.0 to receive files.\n\n\n\n\nApplications using Apache MINA SSHD \u003e= 2.0.0 not using sshd-scp are not affected.\n\n\n\n\nThe issue is fixed in Apache MINA 2.19.0 and 3.0.0-M5. Affected applications are advised to upgrade to these versions.","modified":"2026-07-29T03:30:52.114938840Z","published":"2026-07-20T20:26:28.301Z","related":["SUSE-SU-2026:3339-1","openSUSE-SU-2026:11327-1"],"database_specific":{"cna_assigner":"apache","cwe_ids":["CWE-22","CWE-73"],"osv_generated_from":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/56xxx/CVE-2026-56452.json","unresolved_ranges":[{"extracted_events":[{"last_affected":"2.18.0"},{"introduced":"3.0.0-M1"},{"last_affected":"3.0.0-M4"}],"source":"AFFECTED_FIELD"}]},"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2026/07/20/15"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://repo.maven.apache.org/maven2"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/56xxx/CVE-2026-56452.json"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://lists.apache.org/thread/xgoqvmksmd94fsqnzqjdtfjxf35os9no"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-56452"}],"affected":[{"ranges":[{"type":"GIT","repo":"https://github.com/apache/mina-sshd","events":[{"introduced":"3d614500b27f2e587a38a59dff1aa56013672a99"},{"fixed":"e2926a2795fb099fa0ad6e72e788b812dda256c6"},{"introduced":"73f1d6db67bdf5a91bb73347cb6c022abf3666fa"},{"last_affected":"9634060f87f629ae23eb09c9a0709cb925e3bb87"}],"database_specific":{"extracted_events":[{"introduced":"2.0.0"},{"fixed":"2.19.0"},{"introduced":"3.0.0-m1"},{"last_affected":"3.0.0-m1"},{"introduced":"3.0.0-m2"},{"last_affected":"3.0.0-m2"},{"introduced":"3.0.0-m3"},{"last_affected":"3.0.0-m3"},{"introduced":"3.0.0-m4"},{"last_affected":"3.0.0-m4"}],"source":["CPE_RANGE","CPE_STRING"],"cpe":["cpe:2.3:a:apache:mina_sshd:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","cpe:2.3:a:apache:mina_sshd:3.0.0:m1:*:*:*:*:*:*","cpe:2.3:a:apache:mina_sshd:3.0.0:m2:*:*:*:*:*:*","cpe:2.3:a:apache:mina_sshd:3.0.0:m3:*:*:*:*:*:*","cpe:2.3:a:apache:mina_sshd:3.0.0:m4:*:*:*:*:*:*"]}}],"versions":["3.0.0-m1","3.0.0-m2","3.0.0-m3","3.0.0-m4","sshd-3.0.0-M4","sshd-2.18.0","sshd-2.17.1","sshd-2.17.0","sshd-3.0.0-M2","sshd-3.0.0-M1","sshd-2.16.0","sshd-2.15.0","sshd-2.14.0","sshd-2.13.1","sshd-2.13.0","sshd-2.12.1","sshd-2.12.0","sshd-2.11.0","sshd-2.10.0","sshd-2.9.2","sshd-2.9.1","sshd-2.9.0","sshd-2.8.0","sshd-2.7.0","sshd-2.6.0","sshd-2.5.1","sshd-2.5.0","sshd-2.4.0","sshd-2.3.0","sshd-2.2.0","sshd-2.1.0","sshd-2.0.0"],"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/cve-osv-conversion/osv-output/CVE-2026-56452.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N"}]}
