{"id":"CVE-2026-33491","summary":"Zen-C has Stack-Based Buffer Overflow in Identifier Mangling","details":"Zen C is a systems programming language that compiles to human-readable GNU C/C11. Prior to version 0.4.4, a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the Zen C compiler allows attackers to cause a compiler crash or potentially execute arbitrary code by providing a specially crafted Zen C source file (`.zc`) with excessively long struct, function, or trait identifiers. Users are advised to update to Zen C version v0.4.4 or later to receive a patch.","aliases":["GHSA-rv74-w6q7-h8xr"],"modified":"2026-08-27T03:57:08.754156645Z","published":"2026-03-26T18:39:55.093Z","database_specific":{"osv_generated_from":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/33xxx/CVE-2026-33491.json","cna_assigner":"GitHub_M","cwe_ids":["CWE-121","CWE-787"]},"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/33xxx/CVE-2026-33491.json"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/zenc-lang/zenc/security/advisories/GHSA-rv74-w6q7-h8xr"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-33491"}],"affected":[{"ranges":[{"type":"GIT","repo":"https://github.com/zenc-lang/zenc","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"5ec697eecc95aeb702902e8838bcd6711ecafeaf"}],"database_specific":{"cpe":"cpe:2.3:a:zenc-lang:zen_c:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","extracted_events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"0.4.4"}],"source":["AFFECTED_FIELD","CPE_RANGE"]}}],"versions":["v0.4.3","v0.4.2","v0.4.1","v0.4.0","v0.1.3b","v0.1.3","v0.1.2","v0.1.1","v0.1.0"],"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/cve-osv-conversion/osv-output/CVE-2026-33491.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"}]}
