{"id":"CVE-2026-14258","summary":"Dhcpcd: dhcpcd infinite loop and out-of-bounds read via zero-length ipv6 nd option in router advertisement handling","details":"A flaw was found in dhcpcd's IPv6 Neighbor Discovery Router Advertisement processing. A specially crafted IPv6 Router Advertisement containing a zero-length Neighbor Discovery option can bypass validation during packet storage and later be reparsed without adequate validation, causing the parser to enter a non-advancing loop. Successful exploitation may result in excessive CPU consumption, leading to a denial of service.","modified":"2026-07-08T07:59:47.445596944Z","published":"2026-07-01T09:24:51.479Z","database_specific":{"osv_generated_from":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/14xxx/CVE-2026-14258.json","cwe_ids":["CWE-835"],"cna_assigner":"redhat"},"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-14258"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/14xxx/CVE-2026-14258.json"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-14258"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2462305"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://github.com/NetworkConfiguration/dhcpcd/issues/415"},{"type":"FIX","url":"https://github.com/NetworkConfiguration/dhcpcd/commit/75289ca"}],"affected":[{"ranges":[{"type":"GIT","repo":"https://github.com/networkconfiguration/dhcpcd","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"75289ca"}],"database_specific":{"source":"REFERENCES"}}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/cve-osv-conversion/osv-output/CVE-2026-14258.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}
