{"id":"CVE-2026-13097","summary":"Ipa: privilege escalation via krbcanonicalname manipulation due to realm-unaware uniqueness enforcement in freeipa ldap datastore","details":"A privilege escalation flaw was found in FreeIPA. The uniqueness constraint enforced on Kerberos principal name attributes in the 389-ds directory server does not properly account for equivalent representations of the same principal name, allowing a user with sufficient LDAP write privileges to create a service principal that impersonates an existing privileged one. This can lead to unauthorized acquisition of Kerberos service tickets for sensitive services, potentially resulting in full domain compromise.","modified":"2026-08-29T03:30:35.985664542Z","published":"2026-08-20T10:37:55.464Z","database_specific":{"cwe_ids":["CWE-706"],"osv_generated_from":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/13xxx/CVE-2026-13097.json","cna_assigner":"redhat"},"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-13097"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/13xxx/CVE-2026-13097.json"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-13097"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2515974"}],"affected":[{"ranges":[{"type":"GIT","repo":"https://github.com/freeipa/freeipa","events":[{"introduced":"c7da7e0dc979c2ecd834a0727114f53cdf878297"},{"last_affected":"c7da7e0dc979c2ecd834a0727114f53cdf878297"}],"database_specific":{"source":"CPE_STRING","cpe":"cpe:2.3:a:freeipa:freeipa:4.12.2:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","extracted_events":[{"introduced":"4.12.2"},{"last_affected":"4.12.2"}]}}],"versions":["4.12.2","release-4-12-2"],"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/cve-osv-conversion/osv-output/CVE-2026-13097.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:N"}]}
