{"id":"BIT-ruby-min-2026-46727","details":"An issue was discovered in Ruby 4 before 4.0.5. A race condition leading to a use-after-free in the pthread-based getaddrinfo timeout handler (rb_getaddrinfo in ext/socket/raddrinfo.c) allows a remote attacker who can delay DNS responses near the user-specified timeout to crash a Ruby process that calls Addrinfo.getaddrinfo(..., timeout:) or Socket.tcp(..., resolv_timeout:). Memory-corruption-based exploitation is theoretically possible. The attack could, for example, be carried out through a crafted authoritative DNS server or recursive resolver.","aliases":["BIT-ruby-2026-46727","CVE-2026-46727"],"modified":"2026-05-27T09:41:26.803691384Z","published":"2026-05-27T08:57:37.330Z","database_specific":{"severity":"High","cpes":["cpe:2.3:a:ruby-lang:ruby:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*"]},"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://hackerone.com/reports/3607434"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-46727"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://www.ruby-lang.org/en/news/2026/05/20/getaddrinfo-cve-2026-46727/"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"ruby-min","ecosystem":"Bitnami","purl":"pkg:bitnami/ruby-min"},"ranges":[{"type":"SEMVER","events":[{"introduced":"4.0.0"},{"fixed":"4.0.5"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/bitnami/vulndb/tree/main/data/ruby-min/BIT-ruby-min-2026-46727.json"},"severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"}]}],"schema_version":"1.7.5"}
