{"id":"BIT-pgbouncer-2026-6668","summary":"Integer overflow causes an infinite loop in packet buffer growth in PgBouncer","details":"Integer overflow in the packet buffer growth logic in PgBouncer through 1.25.2 allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to cause a denial of service. Sufficiently large input makes the buffer size computation overflow, leaving the growth loop unable to terminate. Because PgBouncer serves all clients from a single process, this saturates a CPU core and stalls every pooled connection until the process is killed. Both unauthenticated and authenticated code paths can reach the overflow.","aliases":["CVE-2026-6668"],"modified":"2026-10-01T10:00:08.885342373Z","published":"2026-10-01T09:31:03.502Z","database_specific":{"severity":"High","cpes":["cpe:2.3:a:pgbouncer:pgbouncer:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*"]},"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-6668"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://www.pgbouncer.org/changelog.html"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"pgbouncer","ecosystem":"Bitnami","purl":"pkg:bitnami/pgbouncer"},"ranges":[{"type":"SEMVER","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"1.26.0"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/bitnami/vulndb/tree/main/data/pgbouncer/BIT-pgbouncer-2026-6668.json"},"severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}],"schema_version":"1.9.0"}
