{"id":"BIT-parse-2026-31872","summary":"Parse Server has a protected fields bypass via dot-notation in query and sort","details":"Parse Server is an open source backend that can be deployed to any infrastructure that can run Node.js. Prior to 9.6.0 and 8.6.32, the protectedFields class-level permission (CLP) can be bypassed using dot-notation in query WHERE clauses and sort parameters. An attacker can use dot-notation to query or sort by sub-fields of a protected field, enabling a binary oracle attack to enumerate protected field values. This affects both MongoDB and PostgreSQL deployments. This vulnerability is fixed in 9.6.0 and 8.6.32.","aliases":["CVE-2026-31872","GHSA-r2m8-pxm9-9c4g"],"modified":"2026-09-08T08:48:17.728411823Z","published":"2026-03-13T12:28:47.303Z","database_specific":{"severity":"High","cpes":["cpe:2.3:a:parseplatform:parse-server:*:*:*:*:*:node.js:*:*"]},"references":[{"type":"ARTICLE","url":"https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/releases/tag/8.6.32"},{"type":"ARTICLE","url":"https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/releases/tag/9.6.0-alpha.6"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/security/advisories/GHSA-r2m8-pxm9-9c4g"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-31872"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"parse","ecosystem":"Bitnami","purl":"pkg:bitnami/parse"},"ranges":[{"type":"SEMVER","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"8.6.32"},{"introduced":"9.0.0"},{"fixed":"9.6.0"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/bitnami/vulndb/tree/main/data/parse/BIT-parse-2026-31872.json"},"severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V4","score":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:X/CR:X/IR:X/AR:X/MAV:X/MAC:X/MAT:X/MPR:X/MUI:X/MVC:X/MVI:X/MVA:X/MSC:X/MSI:X/MSA:X/S:X/AU:X/R:X/V:X/RE:X/U:X"}]}],"schema_version":"1.9.0"}
