{"id":"BIT-keycloak-2026-15572","summary":"Keycloak-services: keycloak-services: dcr protocol mapper type-swap policy bypass allows privilege escalation","details":"A flaw was found in Keycloak's Dynamic Client Registration (DCR) security policy management. The \"Allowed Protocol Mapper Types\" policy, which restricts which types of data mappers a client can use, fails to re-validate the mapper type during a client update if the mapper's configuration remains unchanged. An attacker with client registration privileges can exploit this by first registering an allowed mapper type with a malicious configuration and then swapping it for a restricted, high-privilege mapper type (such as one that hardcodes administrative roles). This allows the attacker to gain full administrative access to the Keycloak realm.","aliases":["CVE-2026-15572"],"modified":"2026-09-08T08:48:06.756013419Z","published":"2026-08-25T11:41:38.475Z","database_specific":{"cpes":["cpe:2.3:a:redhat:build_of_keycloak:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","cpe:2.3:a:keycloak:keycloak:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*"],"severity":"High"},"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:50846"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:50847"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:50848"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:50849"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-15572"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2499592"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-15572"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"keycloak","ecosystem":"Bitnami","purl":"pkg:bitnami/keycloak"},"ranges":[{"type":"SEMVER","events":[{"introduced":"26.4.0"},{"fixed":"26.4.14"},{"introduced":"26.6.0"},{"fixed":"26.6.5"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/bitnami/vulndb/tree/main/data/keycloak/BIT-keycloak-2026-15572.json"},"severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"}]}],"schema_version":"1.9.0"}
