{"id":"AZL-89781","summary":"CVE-2026-52858 affecting package vim for versions less than 9.2.0620-1","details":"Vim is an open source, command line text editor. Prior to version 9.2.0561, the Python omni-completion script in python3complete.vim for Vim with the +python3 interpreter enabled (and the legacy pythoncomplete.vim for builds with the +python interpreter) executes the import and from statements found in the current buffer through Python's import machinery. Because the buffer's working directory is on sys.path, opening a hostile .py file with a sibling Python package and invoking omni-completion runs that package's top-level code as the editing user. This issue has been patched in version 9.2.0561.","modified":"2026-08-28T17:47:38.538988914Z","published":"2026-06-11T19:16:47Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-52858"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-52858"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"vim","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/vim"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"9.2.0620-1"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-89781.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0"}
