{"id":"AZL-89583","summary":"CVE-2026-50257 affecting package xorg-x11-server-Xwayland for versions less than 24.1.12-1","details":"A use-after-free flaw was found in the X.Org X server and Xwayland in miSyncDestroyFence(). A client that sets up multiple fence triggers can trigger a use-after-free function pointer call. An attacker would connect to the X server to set up a fence and await that fence, then a second X connection destroys the fence, causing the use-after-free. This may be used to crash the server, or for privilege escalation if the X server runs as root.","modified":"2026-08-28T17:48:10.889261709Z","published":"2026-06-05T12:16:38Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-50257"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-50257"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"xorg-x11-server-Xwayland","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/xorg-x11-server-Xwayland"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"24.1.12-1"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-89583.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0"}
