{"id":"AZL-89525","summary":"CVE-2026-50258 affecting package xorg-x11-server 1.20.10-6","details":"A stack-based buffer overflow flaw was found in the X.Org X server and Xwayland. The X server has multiple stack buffers sized XkbMaxShiftLevel * XkbNumKbdGroups but CheckKeyTypes() does not verify or clamp non-canonical key types to XkbMaxShiftLevel. A client can change key types to excessive shift levels and trigger stack overflows. This is caused by an incomplete fix of CVE-2025-26597. This may be used to crash the server, or for privilege escalation if the X server runs as root.","modified":"2026-09-20T05:32:18Z","published":"2026-06-05T12:16:39Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-50258"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-50258"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"xorg-x11-server","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/xorg-x11-server"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"last_affected":"1.20.10-6"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-89525.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0"}
