{"id":"AZL-86607","summary":"CVE-2026-42154 affecting package telegraf for versions less than 1.31.0-22","details":"Prometheus is an open-source monitoring system and time series database. Prior to versions 3.5.3 and 3.11.3, the remote read endpoint (/api/v1/read) does not validate the declared decoded length in a snappy-compressed request body before allocating memory. An unauthenticated attacker can send a small payload that causes a huge heap allocation per request. Under concurrent load this can exhaust available memory and crash the Prometheus process. This issue has been patched in versions 3.5.3 and 3.11.3.","modified":"2026-08-30T05:26:50Z","published":"2026-05-04T19:16:04Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-42154"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-42154"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"telegraf","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/telegraf"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"1.31.0-22"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-86607.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0"}
