{"id":"AZL-86384","summary":"CVE-2026-41256 affecting package jq for versions less than 1.7.1-6","details":"jq is a command-line JSON processor. In 1.8.1 and earlier, Top-level jq programs loaded from a file with -f are truncated at the first embedded NUL byte on current upstream HEAD. A crafted filter file such as . followed by \\x00 and arbitrary suffix compiles and executes as only the prefix before the NUL. This leaves jq with a post-CVE-2026-33948 prefix/full-buffer mismatch on the compilation path even though the JSON parser path has already been fixed.","modified":"2026-08-30T05:26:50Z","published":"2026-05-11T18:16:33Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-41256"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-41256"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"jq","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/jq"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"1.7.1-6"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-86384.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0"}
