{"id":"AZL-86249","summary":"CVE-2026-44656 affecting package vim for versions less than 9.2.0461-1","details":"Vim is an open source, command line text editor. Prior to version 9.2.0435, an OS command injection vulnerability exists in Vim's :find command-line completion. When the path option contains backtick-enclosed shell commands, those commands are executed during file name completion. Because the path option lacks the P_SECURE flag, it can be set from a modeline, allowing an attacker who controls the contents of a file to execute arbitrary shell commands when the user opens that file in Vim and triggers :find completion. This issue has been patched in version 9.2.0435.","modified":"2026-08-28T17:47:58.756214350Z","published":"2026-05-08T23:16:39Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-44656"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-44656"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"vim","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/vim"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"9.2.0461-1"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-86249.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0"}
