{"id":"AZL-81935","summary":"CVE-2026-39316 affecting package cups for versions less than 2.4.17-1","details":"OpenPrinting CUPS is an open source printing system for Linux and other Unix-like operating systems. In versions 2.4.16 and prior, a use-after-free vulnerability exists in the CUPS scheduler (cupsd) when temporary printers are automatically deleted. cupsdDeleteTemporaryPrinters() in scheduler/printers.c calls cupsdDeletePrinter() without first expiring subscriptions that reference the printer, leaving cupsd_subscription_t.dest as a dangling pointer to freed heap memory. The dangling pointer is subsequently dereferenced at multiple code sites, causing a crash (denial of service) of the cupsd daemon. With heap grooming, this can be leveraged for code execution.","modified":"2026-08-28T17:47:55.117384749Z","published":"2026-04-07T17:16:37Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-39316"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-39316"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"cups","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/cups"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.4.17-1"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-81935.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0"}
