{"id":"AZL-81914","summary":"CVE-2026-34982 affecting package vim for versions less than 9.2.0315-1","details":"Vim is an open source, command line text editor. Prior to version 9.2.0276, a modeline sandbox bypass in Vim allows arbitrary OS command execution when a user opens a crafted file. The `complete`, `guitabtooltip` and `printheader` options are missing the `P_MLE` flag, allowing a modeline to be executed. Additionally, the `mapset()` function lacks a `check_secure()` call, allowing it to be abused from sandboxed expressions. Commit 9.2.0276 fixes the issue.","modified":"2026-08-28T17:47:55.058397372Z","published":"2026-04-06T16:16:38Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-34982"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-34982"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"vim","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/vim"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"9.2.0315-1"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-81914.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0"}
