{"id":"AZL-70580","summary":"CVE-2025-61661 affecting package grub2 for versions less than 2.06-26","details":"A vulnerability has been identified in the GRUB (Grand Unified Bootloader) component. This flaw occurs because the bootloader mishandles string conversion when reading information from a USB device, allowing an attacker to exploit inconsistent length values. A local attacker can connect a maliciously configured USB device during the boot sequence to trigger this issue. A successful exploitation may lead GRUB to crash, leading to a Denial of Service. Data corruption may be also possible, although given the complexity of the exploit the impact is most likely limited.","modified":"2026-04-21T04:36:26.061216Z","published":"2025-11-18T19:15:49Z","upstream":["CVE-2025-61661"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2025-61661"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"grub2","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/grub2"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.06-26"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-70580.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5"}
