{"id":"AZL-56898","summary":"CVE-2025-26466 affecting package openssh for versions less than 9.8p1-3","details":"A flaw was found in the OpenSSH package. For each ping packet the SSH server receives, a pong packet is allocated in a memory buffer and stored in a queue of packages. It is only freed when the server/client key exchange has finished. A malicious client may keep sending such packages, leading to an uncontrolled increase in memory consumption on the server side. Consequently, the server may become unavailable, resulting in a denial of service attack.","modified":"2026-04-21T04:36:48.704490Z","published":"2025-02-28T22:15:40Z","upstream":["CVE-2025-26466"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2025-26466"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"openssh","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/openssh"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"9.8p1-3"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-56898.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}
