{"id":"AZL-35165","summary":"CVE-2023-1386 affecting package qemu 9.1.0-1","details":"A flaw was found in the 9p passthrough filesystem (9pfs) implementation in QEMU. When a local user in the guest writes an executable file with SUID or SGID, none of these privileged bits are correctly dropped. As a result, in rare circumstances, this flaw could be used by malicious users in the guest to elevate their privileges within the guest and help a host local user to elevate privileges on the host.","modified":"2026-04-21T04:27:55.427440Z","published":"2023-07-24T16:15:11Z","upstream":["CVE-2023-1386"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2023-1386"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"qemu","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/qemu"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"last_affected":"9.1.0-1"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-35165.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"}]}
