{"id":"AZL-110118","summary":"CVE-2026-113720 affecting package python-virtualenv 20.36.1-6","details":"virtualenv is a tool for creating isolated virtual python environments. Prior to 21.14.9, the app-data copy seeder uses shutil.copy() to copy cached package files into later environments, causing cached source modes to override the current run's umask. A cache populated under a permissive umask can therefore produce files writable by another local account in a later traversable environment, allowing package code such as pip/__init__.py to be modified and executed by the environment owner. The attacker cannot force the earlier umask, and a private destination parent prevents access. This issue is fixed in version 21.14.9.","modified":"2026-10-23T14:16:33.389792210Z","published":"2026-10-20T20:17:18Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-113720"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-113720"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"python-virtualenv","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/python-virtualenv"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"last_affected":"20.36.1-6"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-110118.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0"}
