{"id":"AZL-105813","summary":"CVE-2026-95520 affecting package rpm 4.18.2-2","details":"A heap-based buffer overflow flaw was found in rpm. Parsing a symlink entry in an untrusted RPM package whose declared RPMTAG_LONGFILESIZES value is 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF causes an integer overflow in iterReadArchiveNext() that shrinks a buffer allocation to one byte, after which the payload's independently-controlled cpio filesize field is used to write attacker-controlled data past the end of that allocation. This is reachable via rpm2cpio, rpm2archive, and rpm -qlvp on an  untrusted package.","modified":"2026-10-03T14:16:39.959136369Z","published":"2026-09-29T12:17:12Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-95520"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-95520"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"rpm","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/rpm"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"last_affected":"4.18.2-2"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-105813.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0"}
