{"id":"ALPINE-CVE-2026-23532","details":"FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to version 3.21.0, a client-side heap buffer overflow occurs in the  FreeRDP client’s `gdi_SurfaceToSurface` path due to a mismatch between destination rectangle clamping and the actual copy size. A malicious server can trigger a client‑side heap buffer overflow, causing a crash (DoS) and potential heap corruption with code‑execution risk depending on allocator behavior and surrounding heap layout. Version 3.21.0 contains a patch for the issue.","modified":"2026-11-03T06:33:01.765003853Z","published":"2026-01-19T17:15:51.040Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-23532"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://security.alpinelinux.org/vuln/CVE-2026-23532"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"freerdp","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.23","purl":"pkg:apk/alpine/freerdp?arch=source"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"3.22.0-r0"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/cve-osv-conversion/alpine/ALPINE-CVE-2026-23532.json"}},{"package":{"name":"freerdp","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.24","purl":"pkg:apk/alpine/freerdp?arch=source"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"3.21.0-r0"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/cve-osv-conversion/alpine/ALPINE-CVE-2026-23532.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.2","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"}]}
