{"id":"ALPINE-CVE-2025-53101","details":"ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. In versions prior to 7.1.2-0 and 6.9.13-26, in ImageMagick's `magick mogrify` command, specifying multiple consecutive `%d` format specifiers in a filename template causes internal pointer arithmetic to generate an address below the beginning of the stack buffer, resulting in a stack overflow through `vsnprintf()`. Versions 7.1.2-0 and 6.9.13-26 fix the issue.","modified":"2026-11-03T06:32:16.185277451Z","published":"2025-07-14T20:15:29.180Z","upstream":["CVE-2025-53101"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://security.alpinelinux.org/vuln/CVE-2025-53101"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"imagemagick","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.23","purl":"pkg:apk/alpine/imagemagick?arch=source"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"7.0.0-0"},{"fixed":"7.1.2.8-r0"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/cve-osv-conversion/alpine/ALPINE-CVE-2025-53101.json"}},{"package":{"name":"imagemagick","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.24","purl":"pkg:apk/alpine/imagemagick?arch=source"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"7.0.0-0"},{"fixed":"7.1.2.8-r0"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/cve-osv-conversion/alpine/ALPINE-CVE-2025-53101.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.2","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"}]}
